It is not a city which remains in limelight all the time or included in the list of most beautiful cities in the world, but after seeing the majesty of this city you will find out that it is quite underrated. Fort Lauderdale, located on the Atlantic Coast in Florida, is a city of long beaches, amazing arts, culture and festivals. The city is just 37 km away from Miami and just 3 km from Port Everglades. Millions of people visit Fort Lauderdale every year and enjoy 23 miles of Atlantic beaches, Intracoastal Waterway, Inland canals,   shopping at Las Olas Boulevard and tour of some historic districts. Fort Lauderdale is also one of the most famous diving destinations in Florida with almost 70 artificial reefs.

There are no dry seasons in Fort Lauderdale and the climate is tropical rainforest. The temperature hovers from 58 F to 91 F around the year and summers last from June to September. The winter season is not so long and stays from December to February. Most suitable time to visit Fort Lauderdale is between November and April as it is cold season with clear skies. But if you like to hang out on the beach a lot then you can visit this city any time of the year.

Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport is just 3 miles away from the city centre and receives numerous numbers of flights from many countries. You can get to downtown from the airport by rental cars, bus, courtesy shuttles and famous Sun Trolley. Sun Trolley is a free trolley service towards the city. Fort Lauderdale is also connected by road and water to many other cities.

Fort Lauderdale may not have the most famous cuisine in the whole world but it surely has some damned good chefs with their delicious foods. One of the most famous eating places here is Valentino Cucina Italiana on S. Federal Highway offering good chef side seating, amazing pastries and a bar with great cocktails. You can also enjoy monkfish, sunchoke, black trumpet mushroom, and cute shallots. Some other options include Market 17 offering tasty pan roasted pork which is quite famous around here, Casa D’Angelo, Wild Sea Oyster Bar & Grille, Thasos Greek Taverna, Hot & Soul and the Sea Restaurant.

Museum of Discovery and Science

Museum of Discovery and Science is located right in the heart of Fort Lauderdale and offers some great science and technology exhibits. It is one of the largest museums in Florida and one of the most visited too. A new EcoDiscovery Center is also opened recently at the museum with some Airboat Adventure, antics of river otters, hurricane force winds in the Storm Center and some science events. The Museum remains open everyday with its legendary AutoNation IMAX Theater. The ticket price of the exhibits is $14 per person and $9 for IMAX Theater.

Bonnet House

Bonnet House

Bonnet House is a museum located at Birch Road of Fort Lauderdale and is home to some really amazing historic paintings and artistic sculptures. It was added to the US National Register of Historic Palaces in 1984 and named after Bonnet Lily. The museum is easily accessible by all means of transport and remains open from Tuesday to Sunday. The Public Tour Hours are from 9 am to 4 pm and ticket costs $20 for adults and $16 for children aging 6-12.

Hugh Taylor Birch State Park

Hugh Taylor Birch State Park

Hugh Taylor Birch State Park is located on East Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale and offers a lot of activities like bicycling, camping, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, picnicking, swimming and lot more. This place is heaven for nature lovers as there can learn a lot about local plants and wildlife here. There is also the Terramar Visitor Center nearby featuring natural and cultural history display. This park is a part of late Mr. Hugh Taylor Birch’s estate and gives a great representation of historical and ecological legacy of Fort Lauderdale.

South Beach

South Beach

Located more in Miami than Fort Lauderdale, is a great place to hangout and party all day long. You will see a lot of guys’ roller skating here and people partying at night. At the Haulover Park here, you can enjoy a lot of activities like fishing, bicycle rides, tennis and golf. The clear blue water and white sand makes it one of the most beautiful beaches around the world. You can take a stroll at Lincoln Road or go to a local bar for some cool cocktails. There are Art Deco buildings nearby which are quite iconic and presents a great piece of architecture.

There are many other cool places to visit in Fort Lauderdale like the International Swimming Hall of Fame, Swap Shop, New River Inn, Lockhart Stadium, Calvary Chapel, the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and many more.
